Ocean City and Assateague Island

We spent 3 days in Ocean City, MD. Aaron spent summer days here growing up, so he wanted the kids to experience it too. Ocean City is probably the most lax city in Maryland right now. Masks are required indoors every in MD, but in OC they didn't care much, especially in the hotels and Boardwalk. We stayed in a hotel right on the beach. We swam in the pool and walked the Boardwalk the first night. The next day we headed to the beach all day, played, saw dolphins, and finished off with more pool time. It was definitely more of a wild Spring Break feel there. Fireworks were shot off at 11 at night and scared the awake kids to death!

On our last day, we decided to go somewhere less busy, so we headed to Assateague Island State Park. Tilly and I have read the Misty of Chinoteague books, so we were excited to see some wild ponies. We did as we arrived and left the island. A family we met said they were on the beach trying to eat people's food the day before. We loved Assateague because the crowds were small, they had showers right off the parking lot, not a breath of wind that day, powder sand. It was wonderful and definitely worth a trip back to camp or just do the beach. On our way out, we stopped for some souvenirs and ice cream, and saw a huge snapping turtle crawling through the parking lot. It tried to cross the main road, and with some bystander's help, he made it!

On our drive home, we finished our current audio book, Allies, and headed right into a terrifying storm! It hit just as we were about to cross the Bay Bridge over the Chesapeake Bay. High winds! Pouring rain! Thunder and Lightning! Sobbing from the back seat! At the highest peak of the bridge, lightning struck and half a second later the thunder sounded! Aaron and I looked at each other because that was way to close for comfort. But after prayers, we made it and lived to tell the tale! It was an exciting way to end our trip.
