Valentine's Day in the Hospital
For Valentine's Day this year, we were in American Fork Hospital. Maddox had been sick since last Wednesday with a horrible cough and stuffy nose. His poor cry sounded like a baby kitten meowing. He just sounded awful! Tilly was also super sick. We took them into the doctor's Thursday. It turned out Tilly had an ear infection and were less than helpful with Maddox. They said to bring Maddox back if he got worse. On Saturday, he woke up gasping for air, choking on all the mucus in his throat. It was scary! So, we ran him to the ER to get him checked out. Ends up, he had RSV. His oxygen levels were normal, so they sent us home and told us we could come back and get him deep suctioned as needed. On Sunday, Valentine's Day, I brought him in early to get him suctioned, and his oxygen levels were very low, he was having a hard time breathing, and had coughing fits. They took him straight to Pediatrics. They immediately put him on oxygen, an IV, and hooked him up to all the monitors. The final diagnoses were: RSV, Bronchiolitis, Pneumonia, and an ear infection. He was a mess! The first night, they almost transferred him to Primary Children's Hospital in SLC he was doing so bad. With breathing treatments and constant oxygen, he gradually got better. Everyday he looked better and better! My poor baby spent Sunday through Friday in Peds. Thanks to good health care and Priesthood blessings, Maddox is doing much better now!
